Circular excursion of about 40 km, Jesolo and Cavallino-Treporti, crossing the Northern Lagoon of Venice by boat. Starting from Jesolo, following the Litoranea Veneta, the ancient waterway that connected the Republic of Venice with the Gulf of Trieste, we reach Cavallino, where we board a boat to cross the Venice Lagoon, a UNESCO heritage site, and reach the Jesolo banks with its fishing valleys at Lio Maggiore. After a short refreshment with traditional local specialities at an agritourism farm, we pedal through the countryside along the ancient Caligo Canal, an important transit way for goods to and from Venice until the 17th century. At the point where the canal joins the River Sile stands a medieval defence tower, Torre Caligo, used by the Serenissima as a military garrison. From the tower, following the embankment, we return to Jesolo.
